Essential Criteria For An Actor Besides Acting Skills

Stars blend expressions, voices, roles, and determination. Dubbing, roles, and themes are also very important for Stars, in addition to their acting skills. To put it another way, for stars to have exceptionally long and fruitful careers, they must pay close attention to the roles they play and the voice tone they apply.

Examples

Shankar was a romantic star and a women's idol in Malayalam Cinema during the early 1980s, predating the rise of Mohanlal and Mammooty. Emerging actors, like Mohanlal and Mammooty, would make appearances in Shankar's films to gain access to the masses.

In the 1980s, Rahman was a teen idol in Malayalam Cinema, while Mohan held a similar status in Tamil Cinema. The pairing of Poornima Bhagyaraj with Shankar in Malayalam and Mohan in Tamil was well-received by the audience.

Today, films by Shankar, Rahman, and Mohan are widely remembered, but why didn't the stars of the 1980s lead the way into the 1990s? Their preference for romantic roles, double-hero themes, and reliance on dubbing artists led to setbacks in their "Heroism" careers in the long run.

There are also examples from the 1950s and 1960s. Even though actor SSR was on the verge of glory in Tamil Cinema as a single hero, his choice for double-hero themes and character roles ultimately led to the downfall of his career in the long run.

To name a few more recent examples, Abbas in the mid-1990s, Arvind Swamy in the early 1990s, and Shankar, Rahman, and Mohan in the 1980s (these three stars usually preferred dubbing artists) all opted for romantic roles and were open to double-hero themes. Consequently, their star reputation suffered severe setbacks.

As a special case, Madhavan, who was aligned with a romantic image, worked hard to shed that image through films such as 13B and Vikram Vedha. Similarly, Dulquer Salmaan, who had a romantic image before, tried to shed it by playing a variety of roles.

Career Transformations

When an actor with a hero image faces setbacks, they are compelled to make professional changes. Arvind Swamy and Rahman, for example, are noteworthy for taking on a wide variety of roles to ensure sustainability. Additionally, Amitabh Bachchan, Jaishankar, and Sathyaraj are recognized in the film industry for their remarkable career transformations, which were based on their willingness and the realities of the industry.

Summary

In the film industry, the career paths of Superstars whose on-screen success relied on dubbing rather than their own voices, romantic roles instead of diverse roles, double-hero themes rather than solo heroes, or those unwilling to make professional changes from leading roles to supporting roles are often obscured and typically prove unsuccessful in the long run.
